- Upon completion of the SBA course and exam, students will earn the Certification of Certified Sustainable Building Advisor, CSBA.
- The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has approved the SBA course for 100 Learning Units.
- The Canadian Architect Associations have approved the SBA course for core Continuing Education Learning Units: 36 Core Learning Units.
- The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI)’s approved Education Reviewing Body (ERB), the US Green Building Council Education Provider Program (EPP), has approved the SBA course for LEED AP credential maintenance credits: 100 GBCI CE Hours. Please contact GBCI to learn about the credential maintenance process.
- The SBA course fulfills the LEED Green Associate exam eligibility criteria of an education program that addresses green building principles. Please contact GBCI directly to learn about the credential maintenance process, details, and confirm your eligibility.
SBA Benefits
Students who complete the Sustainable Building Advisor Program will be able to:
- Identify and discuss the key practices of sustainable building.
- Establish competencies in applying LEED™, Built Green™ and other relevant criteria or established guidelines.
- Analyze the costs and benefits of incorporating sustainable building measures.
- Take advantage of financial incentives and technical assistance offered by government, utilities and non-profit organizations.
- Work with architects, designers, builders, building operators, and utilities to improve a building’s performance.
- Establish a sustainable design goal for project development.
- Assist in the education and training of staff in sustainable building.
